I have updated the QlikView Excel Connector so that it now additionally supports Text Objects, as well as making a couple of minor performance enhancements - you can download this new 'Beta 2' release
here.
As mentioned in the original post the Excel Add-in currently only works with QlikView 8.5. It seems that there is a bug with drag and drop of QlikView objects in version 9 which should be fixed in the first service release, due out sometime in September.

Please do let me know if and how you are using this connector! Despite having a substantial number of downloads of the Beta 1 we have not received much in the way of comments or feedback so it's difficult to know whether to continue development beyond the current beta.
